Montreal Canadiens send Cayden Primeau, Otto Leskinen to Laval

The Montreal Canadiens continued their road to the regular season announcing that they have sent goaltender Cayden Primeau and defenceman Otto Leskinen to the Laval Rocket.

Both players were in Ottawa yesterday, Leskinen playing defence and Primeau backing up Keith Kinkaid. They showed promise and potential but were both too far down the depth chart to make any realistic charge towards the Canadiens opening night roster.

This leaves 39 players at training camp, including injured players such as Noah Juulsen, Gustav Olofsson, Karl Alzner, Ryan Poehling, and Michael McCarron among others.

Both players should be significant pieces in the American Hockey League this year. Leskinen proved that he can play at the professional level while Primeau will compete for the starting spot with Michael McNiven who was sent down on Saturday, and presumably Charlie Lindgren who remains at NHL camp.

The Canadiens pre-season continues Monday night when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre.
