Montreal Canadiens recall Jesse Ylönen, Xavier Ouellet

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Jesse Ylönen and Xavier Ouellet from the Laval Rocket. Both players will be available for tonight’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Both players were in the lineup for the Rocket in Toronto on Tuesday night. The Rocket play at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday against Toronto.

The fact that Ylönen and Ouellet will be recalled and available to play likely means there will be some resting of banged-up players for the Canadiens against the Oilers. Erik Gustafsson is already on the roster which means two defenders are likely sitting out tonight’s game for Ouellet, born in France, to get into the lineup.

For Ylönen, Michael Frolik and Alex Belzile are both on the taxi squad, so it is possible multiple forwards will be sitting out of this game, or that they are getting a closer look at the Finnish forward.

Ylönen will be playing his first NHL game and has nine goals and eight assists in 26 AHL games this season.
