The Montreal Canadiens have made a roster move ahead of their Monday practice and subsequent California road trip. They have recalled defender Jayden Struble from the Laval Rocket and made room for him by placing forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard on injured reserve.

Harvey-Pinard was likely ruled out of the trip, and this will allow the team to bring an extra defender with them to California. Arber Xhekaj remains day-to-day as well. This is Struble’s first recall to the National Hockey League, and he deserves it. His play has taken strides this season, and he may be Laval’s best defender through their first 15 games of the season.

Struble, 22, has one goal and five assists in 12 AHL games this season. He recently served a three-game suspension which is why he was out of the lineup.

The Canadiens leave for California on Monday and have games against the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings before heading to Columbus and then returning home to the Bell Centre.
