Montreal Canadiens recall Jake Evans, Karl Alzner from Laval

The Montreal Canadiens Trade Deadline has been extremely quiet for the most part, but they squeezed in a recall as the day drew to a close, bringing up Jake Evans from the Laval Rocket.

Evans had his first taste of NHL action just a few short weeks ago, and impressed in the debut. While the return of Paul Byron and Jonathan Drouin necessitated his demotion to the AHL, the trade of Nate Thompson opened a role up for his return. In the three games he played since being sent down, Evans had two goals and two assists while manning the top unit for Joël Bouchard.

He will join the team on Tuesday, and likely slides into Thompson’s old spot on the fourth line.

Karl Alzner was up with the team, but placed on th AHL roster as the deadline came to pass to ensure h would be available should Laval make the playoffs. With that bit of housekeeping taken care of, he was brought back up on an emergency recall to get the number of defencemen back to six.
