Ahead of their game in Toronto against the Maple Leafs, the Montreal Canadiens have recalled goaltender Cayden Primeau and defender Corey Schueneman from the Laval Rocket.

Primeau will back up Samuel Montembeault as Jake Allen is still out with an undisclosed injury. He started Friday night’s game against the Cleveland Monsters, which ended in a 5-4 loss.

The Rocket only had five defenders in Toronto and Sean Farrell skated at morning skate next to Johnathan Kovacevic. Schueneman was called up to replace Jordan Harris, who also remains out, and was returned to Laval for Friday’s game.

Kevin Poulin was driven to Syracuse on Friday night to get a full night’s rest while his teammates only arrived after 3:00 a.m. He is the planned starter on Saturday for Laval, with Jakub Dobeš backing him up.

With a win on Saturday, the Canadiens would win the season series with the Maple Leafs who are notably sitting Morgan Rielly and T.J. Brodie.
