Montreal Canadiens Prospect Roundup 8

Sweden

Name League Team Timeline Games Goals Assists Points
Sebastian Collberg Elitserien Frölunda Last Week 2 0 0 0
Total 35 6 3 9
World Juniors Sweden Last Week 0 0 0 0
Total 6 4 2 6
Allsvenskan Örebro HK
Last Week 0 0 0 0
Total 15 6 2 8

Collberg still isn’t getting minutes worthy of his talent. It’s disappointing that he signed an extension recently, because not playing is no way to develop.

Magnus Nygren Elitserien Färjestads Last Week 2 1 3 4
Total 50 13 19 32

What a week from Nygren! The offensively talented defenseman just keeps ripping it up. This spectacular season in Sweden has to make you wonder if Nygren is close to challenging for an NHL spot. At 22, he’s the same age as Greg Pateryn, who’s in the Canadiens‘ lineup tonight.

Name League Team Timeline Games Goals Assists Points
Erik Nystrom Super Elit U20 Modo U20 Last Week 0 0 0 0
Total 22 8 16 24
Allsvenskan Karlskrona HK Last Week 1 0 0 0
Total 23 5 6 11

Nystrom did all he could near the end there, but his team didn’t make the playoffs in the Allsvenskan.

Pribyl couldn’t hit the scoresheet in one game this week, but he’s having a career year that may have re-invigorated his NHL hopes.

Brady Vail OHL Windsor Spitfires Last Week 3 1 3 4
Total 64 19 34 53

A second straight week for Vail with over a point per game, the young center has started to flash the talent that he showed early in the season since being moved off of defense.

Olivier Archambault QMJHL Drumm. Volitgeurs
Last Week 4 3 2 5
Total 62 30 34 64

Archambault is on the most impressive stretch of production in his career. He’s hit the 30 goal mark for the first time, and set a new career high for goals, assists and points. He’s also in the midst of his healthiest season in the QMJHL. Early on in the year, I was pretty sure that Archambault may have been let go by the Canadiens, but now he’s going to make it difficult for them to ignore him.

Charles Hudon QMJHL Chicoutimi Last Week 3 1 3 4
Total 54 30 38 68

Hudon also hit 30 goals for the first time in his career this week, but he still hasn’t outproduced his assists from last season. He has 5 games to catch up there. Hudon is incredibly talented, the trick for him will be to stay healthy.

Darren Dietz WHL Saskatoon Blades Last Week 4 2 3 5
Total 69 22 31 53

Dietz is unstoppable. The man just keeps scoring, and the Blades just keep winning. He now leads all WHL defensemen in goals, and is 3rd in points. It’s going to be very interesting to see what he can do in the AHL next year. Does he make Morgan Ellis expendable?

Dalton Thrower WHL Saskatoon Blades Last Week 3 0 0 0
Total 53 5 20 25

As hot as Dietz is, that’s how cold Thrower is. No points in 5 games for the prospect who’s been most disappointing in my eyes this season.

Tim Bozon WHL Kamloops Blazers Last Week 4 1 4 5
Total 66 33 51 84

Bozon is still on a playmaking kick that, but at least he’s producing at a nicer clip this week. The offensively gifted sniper needs to recognize that shooting first is a good option.

Mac Bennett NCAA Michigan Last Week 2 0 0 0

Danny Kristo NCAA North Dakota Last Week 2 0 0 0

Kristo’s point streak finally ends at 8 games. Hopefully he can heat right back up and dominate the rest of the season and playoffs. Kristo leads UND with 4 game winners this year.

Not quite as impressive as he was last week, but MacMillan hit the scoresheet when Kristo didn’t which is good.
