Montreal Canadiens Prospect Roundup 3

Sweden

Name League Team Timeline Games Goals Assists Points
Sebastian Collberg Elitserien Frölunda Last Week 3 0 0 0
Total 26 5 3 8
World Juniors Sweden Last Week 0 0 0 0
Total 6 4 2 6
Allsvenskan Örebro HK
Last Week 0 0 0 0
Total 15 6 2 8

After an explosion of offense last week, Collberg slowed right down and went pointless in 3 games. A reminder for everyone that he’s an 18 year old in an adult league.

Magnus Nygren Elitserien Färjestads Last Week 3 1 1 2
Total 41 10 14 22

Once again Nygren puts up an impressive stat line. His goal scoring from the blueline has been top notch to say the least, but it would be nice to know how his defensive game is coming along.

No games for Nystrom this week.

Daniel Pribyl Czech Extraliga Sparta Praha Last Week 3 3 4 7
Total 35 9 9 18

After recording just 2 points in 12 games, Pribyl exploded this week for 7 points with a pair of 3 point games. The kid is the most inconsistent player in the Habs system, but when he’s on, he’s on.

Brady Vail OHL Windsor Spitfires Last Week 3 1 1 2

Not a bad week from Vail, but it’s been a long, long time since we’ve seen him have an offensively dominant week.

Nothing really to say about Archambault. One game and no points.

Charles Hudon QMJHL Chicoutimi Last Week 4 0 2 2
Total 41 25 27 52

4 games without a goal ties his longest cold streak of the season. Not much to complain about with Hudon though. It’s unlikely a cold streak lasts for a guy as talented as him.

Darren Dietz WHL Saskatoon Blades Last Week 3 2 3 5
Total 50 13 18 31

Dietz follows up an unimpressive stretch with an offensive explosion. I’m still not sure what to make of Dietz as a prospect. He’s apparently an offense only guy, but while his goal totals are nice, he doesn’t get many assists.

Dalton Thrower WHL Saskatoon Blades Last Week 3 0 2 2
Total 35 4 15 19

Not a bad week for Thrower, but with the season into its second half, it sure would be nice to see a hint of last year’s dominant offensive defenseman.

Tim Bozon WHL Kamloops Blazers Last Week 3 3 4 7
Total 51 31 40 71

Yet another week where Bozon impresses. With Galchenyuk graduating to the NHL so quickly, Bozon is in a fight with Hudon for the most dominant junior level Habs prospect, and so far it looks like he’s ahead. A 7 point week is never a bad thing, and it seems that Bozon make manages one every couple tries.

Mac Bennett NCAA Michigan Last Week 1 0 1 1

Bennett made his return to the lineup from his knee injury last week with an assist. Unfortunately he was also a -3, but Michigan sucks this year so I wouldn’t read into it.

Danny Kristo NCAA North Dakota Last Week 2 2 1 3

Kristo continues his dominance of the NCAA as a senior. I remain convinced that Kristo is good enough to step into the NHL next year if the organization makes room for him. If UND were to flame out early this year, you may see Kristo on the Habs or Bulldogs by sometime in April.

6 games without a point now for MacMillan is his first tough streak of the season. Hopefully MacMillan breaks this cold streak this weekend.

Sprague Ribinsoin Liga Süpa Glöorpf HK Last Week 6 64 0 64
Total 36 228 0 228

Recently signed to an entry level contract by the Canadiens at the age of 27, Ribinsoin took a long time to catch the eye of hockey scouts after taking 6 years away from hockey to complete a degree in quantum physics. In what many consider a blatant act of rebellion against his father Larry, who tallied 0 goals and 1,433 assists during his 1966-68 minor-league stint with the Västervik Verklempt of the Swedish Liga Süpahappifunbäal, Sprague continues to tear up the Süp’s goals ledger, potting another 64 goals in 6 games this week. He has no assists. In fact he has no passes at all. The Glöorpf coaching staff is crediting Sprague’s success to offseason work on his skate lacing, a full recovery from surgery to dislodge an overdue library book from his face, as well as his penchant for being a total fuckin’ puck-hog. Central scouting ranks Sprague Yes, with gusts to Whatcha Talkin’ ‘Bout Willis?.
