Collberg scored some great goals in the World Juniors for Sweden, and his shootout marker against Russia ensured that they would win at least a silver medal. His solid play there and in Orebro the month before has earned him a trip back to the Elitserien. In two games there he hasn’t produced anything yet, but it could be coming. Maybe this time he’ll actually get some ice time.

Magnus Nygren | Elitserien | Färjestads | Last Week | 6 | 1 | 2 | 3 |

Nygren is back to putting up a few points, and overall his scoring pace is pretty impressive.

Nystrom isn’t tearing the Allsvenskan to shreds, but he’s not too far behind Collberg’s production. Even though Collberg was frighteningly unlucky with assists, this is a great sign for the long shot pick.

Pribyl is his usual inconsistent self. 6 games without a point followed by a 2 goal game.

Galchenyuk was put into a limited role for Team USA for unknown reasons, but you can’t really argue it too much after they won gold. Even so, he was their best offensive forward and limiting his usage was astoundingly weird. Due to the lack of icetime (10-13 minutes a game), we estimated that Galchenyuk lead the entire tournament in points per 60 minutes played. Galchenyuk will be joining the Canadiens training camp today instead of going back to junior, so we’ll see if he forces his way into the NHL.

Brady Vail | OHL | Windsor Spitfires | Last Week | 5 | 0 | 4 | 4 |
Total | 40 | 13 | 23 | 36 |
Vail isn’t scoring goals as often as early in the season, but the Spitfires just acquired some major talent at the OHL trading deadline, so that could change soon. We can’t really be disappointed in Vail’s offensive production considering that he’s projected as a checking line forward. If anything that he’s pushing a point per game is a nice plus.

The inconsistent Archambault strikes again. Barely outscoring Vail is one thing for an offense only guy, but he’s also 19 and plays in a weaker league. Archambault has to show more.

After missing out on the World Juniors due to injury where he may have been able to be the difference for Team Canada, Hudon is back to his scoring ways in the QMJHL. He made a statement in his first game back from injury, notching 2 goals and an assist. Hudon has since taken a really big hit and looked injured on January 10th, but he seems to be fine.

Not a bad pace from Dietz, and his goal scoring is certainly impressive so far this year, but I think we were all expecting a bit more from both Blades defensemen.

Dalton Thrower | WHL | Saskatoon Blades | Last Week | 6 | 0 | 3 | 3 |
Total | 26 | 3 | 10 | 13 |
Sticking at a half point per game, it’s just not the kind of offense Habs fans expected from Thrower. He’s dealt with injuries this year, and the Blades’ coaching sure hasn’t helped him, but it seems like Thrower is the low point of a great 2012 draft right now. Eventually I believe that will change, but this hasn’t been a good season. Thrower is old enough that he could turn pro next year like Nathan Beaulieu did, but it’s looking like he may need another year of junior.

Talk about expectations, Bozon is finally back to where he was in October. 7 goals in 6 games, most of them played without one of his big linemates, is top notch. 6th in points in the WHL is a great mark for the great hope of our new French born commenters.

Right after breaking a 4 game pointless streak, Bennett was the victim of a vicious, dirty clip that targeted his knee. We don’t know yet how long Bennett will be out, but I think it’s fair to guess it’ll be awhile. Here is the hit. It’s the kind of hit that there’s no excuse for in any league. Absolute gutter trash.

Kristo now has a goal in 6 straight games, and 12 points over that time. This is the kind of dominance we expected from a senior in the NCAA. Lots of Habs fans have given up on Kristo for one reason or another, but I think he’s still an NHL talent. He could be more likely to make the Canadiens next year than Louis Leblanc or even Brendan Gallagher.
