Carey Price was the last Montreal Canadiens goaltender to beat the Florida Panthers, in the last NHL game he played on April 29, 2022. Tonight, Samuel Montembeault will attempt to become the latest after coming up just short in a shootout loss a little more than a month ago.
Montembeault won’t have to face Matthew Tkachuk tonight as he is out with an illness, but he will face the newest member of the team, Vladimir Tarasenko, who is currently playing on the top line with Aleksander Barkov. Tarasenko is getting comfortable with his club following the trade from the Ottawa Senators, with six points in his last five games, including three last night in Toronto.
Kaiden Guhle is back in the lineup for Montreal, a welcome addition to the formation after he served his suspension. The defence played well versus Carolina in the last game, but it’s always good to have your best players available to face a top club, even if it’s a Panthers team struggling to win games at the moment.
