Canadiens recall Morgan Ellis and Michael McCarron from St. John’s

With five games over the next eight days starting tomorrow, and plenty of injuries to deal with, the Canadiens understandably needed to dip into the farm for reinforcements. They just did so, by recalling Morgan Ellis and Michael McCarron from the St. John’s IceCaps.

With Tom Gilbert and Jeff Petry out for the rest of the season, and Nathan Beaulieu out for at least the next few weeks, it makes perfect sense that they called up a defenseman. Also, after sending Tomas Fleischmann and Dale Weise to the Blackhawks, they needed a forward, and big Mac is the man they decided to go with.

We’ll have to wait and see if either player will be placed into the lineup right away, but with the busy schedule coming up, it stands to reason that they will be used at some point.
