Montreal Canadiens announce Development Camp roster, schedule

The Montreal Canadiens have announced details surrounding their 2023 Development Camp and will start on Sunday.

A total of 38 players will participate in the development camp, including 19 forwards, 13 defensemen and six goaltenders.

Six players selected by the Canadiens at the 2023 NHL Entry Draft will be among the participants, including first-round pick David Reinbacher.

The list of invitees includes 28 prospects drafted by the Canadiens organization, two players acquired via trade, one through free agency and seven invited on a try-out basis.

The first on-ice practice session will be on Sunday, July 2 at 9:15 a.m. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.

The camp will have several guest coaches Max Bohlin (Rogle BK – Sweden), Andrew Antsanen (First Nations), Philippe Roy (Shawinigan Cataractes – QMJHL), Geoff Grimwood and Rylan Ferster (Victoria Grizzlies – BCHL) as well as Evan Dickson and Kirk MacDonald (Dubuque Fighting Saints – USHL).

They will join the Canadiens development staff, including Scott Pellerin and Marie-Philip Poulin, as well as the full Laval Rocket coaching staff.

There were questions surrounding Kelly Buchberger’s future in the organization as there were reports that he was looking for a job closer to Western Canada, but as of now he remains with the organization.
