After rough efforts versus the Vegas Golden Knights and Boston Bruins, the Canadiens have held some high-energy practices, hoping to up their level as they head to California for the annual road trip. The first stop if the Honda Center to take on an Anaheim Ducks team that is also working its way through a rebuild trying to become competitive once again.
The Canadiens will be doing it without both Jordan Harris and Arber Xhekaj. But thanks to the depth Montreal has on defence, they have compensated for the loss of two 23-and-under blue-liners by reaching down to the AHL team and bringing up two more. Jayden Struble is one of the recalls, and he will play his first NHL game tonight.
Martin St-Louis has once more brought the blender out of the cupboard searching for the balanced lineup he’s been looking for all season. There are several new combinations up front that he will hope can lead to better things offensively and defensively.
