Canadiens select Mikhail Sergachev ninth overall

There was a ton of speculation leading up to the draft that the Canadiens might look to move either up or down in the draft, rather than stand pat at ninth overall. They stayed at ninth, and decided to enlist some defensive help in the form of the Windsor Spitfires’ Mikhail Sergachev.

This is great news after the Lars Eller trade. Sure, those trades are definitely sexier in terms of coverage, but they have gotten themselves a very good player. I love this pick. I would like to lock eyes with this pick from across a crowded room, then date it for about two years, then marry it. Mikhail Sergachev has all the makings of the next Andrei Markov for the Canadiens, and has great offensive upside.

We will have more on him coming very soon, but for now you can check out our pre-draft profile we already have available.
