With the date approaching for players to declare whether they will be participating in the NHL’s post-season format, Max Domi has decided he will wait seven to 10 days before deciding whether to take part in the Montreal Canadiens’ run.

Domi is a Type-1 diabetic, and is at increased risk of severe illness if he were to contract COVID-19. He will need to decide whether he will take the risks that come with joining a group of hundreds of players and personnel in the Toronto hub.
It will surely be a difficult decision for Domi. Not only would he be missing out on the first post-season experience of his NHL career, but he will have also made his last on-ice impression before going into contract negotiations. The two-year deal he signed shortly after his trade to Montreal expires at the end of the 2019-20 season. After an incredible debut season, scoring 72 points in 62 games, he only managed 44 in 71 games this season, and may not have a chance to boost his stock with a solid post-season showing.
The seven-to-10 day wait period will also make sure there are no positive tests in the Canadiens’ group as they enter the team’s bubble.
