The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Matthew Peca to a two-year contract worth $1.3M per year.

Peca spent the majority of the last three seasons with the Syracuse Crunch, with occasional call-ups to the Tampa Bay Lightning, including an AHL All-Star Game appearance in 2017. Peca was one of the leaders on a perennially strong Crunch team, known for it’s development program fronted by Lightning assistant general manager Julien BriseBois.
He could provide a good addition to the Laval Rocket for next season as he does not yet qualify for a veteran spot, but has good playoff experience and is an experienced centre. He is however eligible for waivers should the Canadiens send him to the AHL.
Last season he signed a one-year two-way deal that guaranteed $150K in salary according to Capfriendly. Peca made his NHL debut against the Montreal Canadiens in December 2016.
