Lias Andersson signs two-way contract with Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have signed a contract with forward Lias Andersson, a two-way deal for the 2022-23 season.

It is a minimum-salary contract of $775,000 at the NHL level, valued at $450,000 should he be assigned to the AHL. Andersson had split time between the Los Angeles Kings and Ontario Reign the past three years, and could be looking at a similar situation once again.

Selected by the New York Rangers seventh overall in 2017, Andersson never reached his potential to play consistently at the top level, but he has become a very productive minor-leaguer, contributing 59 points in 67 games last season with the Reign. He will be given his chance to make the Canadiens out of camp, but is more likely to take the role Anthony Richard occupied last season as a top call-up option, should he clear waivers out of training camp.
