Nathanael Halbert’s first professional contract came the morning of his AHL debut. He signed the morning of the game when Gustav Olofsson fell ill before a game against the Manitoba Moose.
Halbert’s season with the McGill Hockey club had just come to an end, and he ended up playing five games with the Laval Rocket, earning one assist.
He turned that brief time into a one-year, two-way contract with the Rocket for the 2020-21 season.

The contract is a two-way contract which allows the team to send him to the ECHL, meaning he is mostly a depth piece. Halbert is 24 years old, and 6’1, 194 lbs. He played junior hockey for Joël Bouchard with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for three seasons before four years with McGill.
He provides the Rocket with depth as the AHL contracts of Ryan Culkin, Evan McEneny, and Maxim Lamarche have expired. This allows the team the flexibility to send him to the ECHL if they have health and depth throughout the organization.
