The Laval Rocket have made it official. They have signed Jesse Ylönen to a one-year, one-way American Hockey League contract for the remainder of the season.
Ylönen is not yet in Montreal and will have to pass a physical before being eligible for game action.
Ylonen is expected to arrive today. He’ll have to pass a medical in Montreal once he does.

Ylönen was drafted 35th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. His contract with Pelicans, who have okayed his move to the AHL, expires on April 30. After that, it should be expected that he will sign his entry-level contract with the team.
The 20-year-old was born in Arizona while his father played for the Coyotes. He has 12 goals and 10 assists in 53 games with Pelicans. The Finnish team is 12-33-10 and find themselves near the bottom of Liiga.
While not officially confirming the report Friday night in Rochester, Rocket head coach Joël Bouchard spoke briefly to EOTP’s Scott Matla about the Finnish prospect.

The Rocket play in Cleveland on Thursday and Friday and it should be expected that Ylönen will make his North American debut then.
