The Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday that Kirby Dach is out long-term with a significant injury. He left Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury.

The team also said they are still doing a diagnosis for a specific timeline.

Dach played in 58 games last season and dealt with several injuries. This one seems related to a hit into the boards by Jarred Tinordi. He has two assists this season.

For now, the Canadiens have not called anyone up and have Michael Pezzetta as an extra forward on the NHL roster. If anyone is to be recalled before Tuesday’s game, they will have opportunity to do so as the Laval Rocket don’t play until Wednesday and Friday this week.

Dach was the second of two forwards to get injured on Saturday. In Saturday’s Rocket game, Emil Heineman left the game after colliding with the official and did not return. He was also expected to be evaluated after that game.

Head coach Martin St-Louis says that Alex Newhook will move to centre with Dach out.
