There had been some questions about what Jordan Harris’s plan would be for the 2020-21 season. Today, it was revealed that the Montreal Canadiens’ defence prospect will be returning to Northeastern University for his third collegiate campaign rather than beginning his professional career.

Harris has been developing well with the Huskies in his two seasons so far. This year he was named to Team USA’s World Juniors squad, and also netted the overtime-winner as Northeastern claimed the Beanpot for the third season in a row.

The move means that Harris will continue to play alongside fellow Habs prospect Jayden Struble next season, as both players develop in a strong NCAA program. It’s one that has already graduated one of Montreal’s top prospects, goaltender Cayden Primeau.
Marc Bergevin is hoping to have Alexander Romanov signed for the start of the next season. Harris staying in college would be good news for the Canadiens long-term, off-setting the contracts of two young left-side defenders by a season going forward should they both prove to be NHL-calibre blue-liners.
