Montreal Canadiens prospect Joël Teasdale is out a minimum of seven months after suffering an injury that will require surgery for a torn MCL and ACL in on-ice training on August 12.

The 20-year-old was expected to make his professional debut this fall and would have been a major part of the team’s rookie camp in September. He is coming off a Memorial Cup run where he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
It is a setback for Teasdale, which will see him out most of his rookie season. Seven months would see him potentially back late in the season with a March debut.
He was #24 in our Top 25 Under 25, and didn’t take part in the scrimmages at development camp for precautionary reasons after a long playoff run.

The Teasdale injury may open up an opportunity for someone else to make a statement at the team’s rookie tournament in Belleville where they will take on the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets on September 7 and 8.
