After playing only a handful of games for the Laval Rocket in his rookie season, and failing to dress for any so far this year, the Montreal Canadiens and Jeremiah Addison appear to be parting ways.

Unconditional waivers are typically used to terminate the contract of a player and allows them to sign wherever they want after they clear. Addison was sent to the ECHL’s Brampton Beast yesterday to get some games under his belt, but something between then and now has changed so the 22 year old will soon be a free agent.
This marks the second time in two years that the Canadiens have used unconditional waivers with a prospect. Last year they allowed Martin Reway to return home, waiving him after a slow start to his North American career. In six games for the Rocket, Addison had just one goal, and six penalty minutes.

UPDATE: Addison refused his assignment to the ECHL, and has decided to go to school instead.
