UPDATE: Tyszka has been released and is undergoing the team’s concussion protocol.

After being crosschecked into the boards by Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Hudson Elynuik, Jarret Tyszka was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Elynuik was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.
Tyszka had been one of the standouts for the Montreal Canadiens at development camp earlier in the summer, and had looked good in the first game versus the Ottawa Senators at the Rookie Showdown. He was set for a breakout season in the WHL, so hopefully this injury will not prove to be too much of a setback for the defenceman.
Jake Evans was removed from the game versus the Senators on a stretcher also, taken to hospital for evaluation, but ultimately released into the care of the Canadiens to undergo concussion protocol.
UPDATE: Tyszka is on his way to the hospital for further evaluation.
