Jarred Tinordi called up by the Montreal Canadiens

After a stretch of very solid play for the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Montreal Canadiens have decided that Jarred Tinordi deserves a look with the big club once more.

Tinordi has had a bit of an offensive surge of late, including an end to end goal against the rival Toronto Marlies that made the highlight reels. Tinordi has three goals and six assists for nine points in 47 games in Hamilton, along with being held pointless in his 9 games with the big club at the start of the season.

The call up comes as a shock to most, who were expecting to see Nathan Beaulieu get the call once more after looking like a high end third pairing or even solid second pairing defenseman before the Olympic break, even while playing his off side. He somehow managed to even make Douglas Murray look serviceable, yet now it looks like he’ll be back in the AHL for a spell.

Tinordi, like Beaulieu, is a left side defenseman, but will likely be playing his off side on the third pairing with Murray. Tinordi has struggled mightily on his off side at the NHL level, but may have taken a step forward in his game over the past half season in Hamilton.
