2018 NHL Entry Draft: Montreal selects Jacob Olofsson 56th overall

With their third pick of the second round, the Montreal Canadiens have gone back to Europe, selecting Swedish centre Jacob Olofsson.

The centre had 10 goals and 11 assists in 43 game for Timrå of the Allsvenskan in Sweden last year. He played a key role as a young player and will play with Timrå again next year in the Swedish Hockey League after his side earned promotion.

This pick came to Montreal in a deal that sent Tomas Plekanec to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the trade deadline in exchange for Kerby Rychel and Rinat Valiev.
