2023 NHL Draft: Montreal Canadiens select Jacob Fowler with pick 69

The Montreal Canadiens have selected goaltender Jacob Fowler with the 69th pick of the 2023 NHL Draft.

Fowler played his draft season with the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL, putting together another in a string of very good seasons leading up the event. He took that performance to another level in the post-season, with a .952 save percentage and 1.36 goals-against average in nine games played.

The Canadiens were in the market for a goaltender after parting ways with Frederik Dichow at the end of the season and not seeing the progress in Cayden Primeau that they had hoped. There was talk of them being interested in Yaroslav Askarov in a potential trade for the fifth overall pick, but instead Kent Hughes adds his goalie prospect with his second selection in the draft.

We will have much more on Fowler game in an in-depth article soon.
