It has been reported for months, and it is now official. As part of the National Hockey League’s centennial celebrations, the Montreal Canadiens will play the Ottawa Senators in an outdoor game at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa on December 16.

It was always expected that the NHL’s oldest franchise would play a key role in the NHL’s 100th anniversary celebrations, and it was also known that Ottawa was aiming for an outdoor game as well.
And since these two teams played in the NHL’s first ever game, it makes sense to pair the two for this event.
This will be the fourth time that Montreal will be playing an outdoor game, and each time they have been on the road. Montreal is 2-1 in their previous three outdoor games.
Geoff Molson has said that he wants to host an outdoor game in Montreal, but the lack of an obvious location in the city makes it very hard.
