IceCaps Series Preview: Gabriel Dumont returns as St. John’s hosts Syracuse

There will be a few familiar faces on the visitors bench when the Syracuse Crunch roll into Mile One Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Former IceCaps captain and team MVP Gabriel Dumont will be present, as well as another former Hab Michael Bournival.  The Crunch come into Tuesday’s game on a two game win streak, and sit second in the North Division. The IceCaps are fourth.

Syracuse have a few other notable names on their roster. Goaltender, Kristers Gudlevskis was the goalie for Latvia at the 2014 Olympics. Forward, Eric Condra, spent multiple seasons in the NHL with the Ottawa Senators and Tampa Bay Lightning. Cory Conacher has recently returned to North America after a stint  in Europe. The small forward is also a former NHL player, and won the AHL award for MVP and Rookie of the Year in 2011-12.

The IceCaps will be without defenceman, Zach Redmond, who has finished his two game conditioning stint and is back with Montreal. Charles Hudon, Chris Terry, and Mark Barberio are all still with the Canadiens, meaning St. John’s will have to deal with a depleted roster.
