There is an article waiting to be written about the importance of secondary scoring in the form of one, Jiri Sekac. Sekac looked great on that goal and pretty much did everything on his own. Just love seeing a player create time and space for himself and come out with a goal even when his primary path is blocked. Sekac gives the Habs another talented scoring threat to add to Galchenyuk, Pacioretty, and Gallagher.
The thing with having secondary scoring is that for it to exist you need to have primary scoring. In this game that has yet to materialize. I was under the impression that the second period would be more in Montreal’s wheelhouse, but it seems that it’s just the 1st Period pt. 2. Other than The Godfather Part 2, Empire Strikes Back, and Superman 2, the second one is always worse.
And as I write those lines, everyone’s favorite afterthought Lars Eller comes through giving the Habs what could be called a somewhat comfortable lead.
