Habsent Minded EXTRA: Alexander Romanov is signed

We sit down to hear KHL expert Gillian Kemmerer discuss the Montreal Canadiens recent signing Alexander Romanov. The young defender has played with one of the KHL’s top clubs CSKA Moscow the last two seasons. He is a Gagarin Cup winner, a two time World Junior All Star and was the top defender at the 2019 World Juniors.

Kemmerer gives her opinion on where Romanov stands, his strengths and weakness and how important the Russian community is for an expat’s success. The role of mentor could go to Ilya Kovalchuk and his family as Alexander Romanov will bring his fiancé Sofia to Montreal.

On the ice, Romanov has stated his appreciation for Shea Weber and he could not get a better mentor for his defensive play and someone to learn  from when it comes to improve his slap shot. We also get Kemmerer’s thoughts on a possible AHL assignment and the potential use of the European clause that is rumoured to be in Alexander Romanov’s entry level contract.
