After starting our season previews with the Boston Bruins, we continue with a look at the Florida Panthers. The last time these teams played, the Panthers were on their way up, and it was something that was solidified by their performance in last year’s season.
They ended up falling in the first round to the Tampa Bay Lightning, but don’t forget that the Panthers had home-ice advantage for that series.
To get a look at the Panthers, we turn to Erin Brown, a member of the Professional Hockey Writers Association, and who covers the team for The Hockey News, among other outlets since 1998.
Note that this was recorded before the Panthers signed their captain Aleksandr Barkov to an eight-year contract extension. At the end of the podcast, they also discuss Samuel Montembeault, who was claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens.
