Habs Goal Scorers 2011-12: Max Pacioretty Part 2

Continuing our breakdown of Max Pacioretty’s goals with #12-22

January 7th, 2012: P.K. Subban jumps on a loose puck in the defensive zone and sends a long pass to Max Pacioretty. Max breaks between the Lightning defenders and he beats Mathieu Garon low. This goal was an individual effort off the rush.

January 14th, 2012: Erik Cole and Pacioretty work the puck deep in the Senators‘ zone, then Pacioretty sends it to Subban on the point. Subban feeds Chris Campoli who takes a quick slapper. David Desharnais intercepts the puck and tries to fool Craig Anderson but is stopped. Pacioretty however, will not be denied on the rebound. This goal was a zone play and was not an individual effort.

January 15th, 2012: Tomas Kaberle takes advantage of an errant Rangers pass through the neutral zone and brings the puck into the offensive zone, sending a pass into Desharnais’ skates. Desharnais deftly handles the pass but can’t get a shot off, so he elects to go around the net and try to feed Cole to the side of the net. Cole is tied up and can’t cash, but a Rangers defenseman knocks the puck right to Pacioretty, who buries it. This goal was off the rush and was not an individual effort.

January 15th, 2012: Desharnais takes a shot from below the faceoff dot but is denied, but he gets the puck back and sends it up high to Cole, who lets a shot go that deflects off of Pacioretty and past Henrik Lundqvist. This was a team effort on a zone play.

January 20th, 2012: After Cole fails to set up a goal the Penguins send the puck the other way, but their passing is off and Peter Budaj picks off a pass and sends a long bomb back down the ice to Cole. Cole streaks in and passes to Pacioretty on the left side, who beats a sprawling Marc-Andre Fleury. This goal was scored off the rush but was not an individual effort.

January 25th, 2012: Cole tips an Alexei Emelin shot wide, and Desharnais tries to pounce on the rebound but can’t get it on net, but as the puck comes around the other side Pacioretty is there to tuck it home over a two pad stack by Ty Conklin. This goal was a zone play, and not an individual effort.

January 31st, 2012: After Tyler Myers misses a shot high, the puck comes out of the Habs defensive zone where Pacioretty chips it past the last Sabres defender back and creates a breakaway for himself. Ryan Miller stops the first shot but Pacioretty puts the rebound over Miller’s right pad. This goal was an individual play off the rush.

February 5th, 2012: Aaron Palushaj carries the puck behind the net and sends it out to Yannick Weber, who one times a shot towards the net. The shot is stopped by Pavalec but like he does so often, Pacioretty grabs the rebound and puts it home. This goal was scored on a zone play and was not an individual effort.

February 9th, 2012: After a nice save by Carey Price, Cole clears the zone and sends the puck up to Pacioretty. Max breaks in on his off wing and beats Evgeni Nabokov on the far side. This goal was an individual play off the rush.

February 9th, 2012: Pacioretty intercepts a pass in the neutral zone and brings it the other way. After gaining the zone he gives the puck to Desharnais, who waits for Pacioretty to get bit of distance and sends it back to him for a one timer. This goal was off the rush but was not an individual play.

February 9th, 2012: Tomas Plekanec wins a puck battle in the defensive end and clears it up the ice. Pacioretty beats everyone there and puts the puck into the empty net. Due to the fact that this was an empty net goal, I think Plekanec’s contribution is enough that I can’t call it an individual play, but it was off the rush.

Monday we look at Pacioretty’s 23rd to 33rd goals.
