Habs Goal Scorers 2011-12: Lars Eller Part 1

October 29th, 2011: Lars Eller brings the puck out of the Habs zone and passes to Andrei Kostitsyn, but the pass is a hard one and it bounces off of Kostitsyn’s stick and into the air. At the Bruins blueline Travis Moen chops the puck down from the air and Eller recovers it onside. Eller then breaks in on Adam McQuaid and waits for him to make a move before toe dragging and wristing the puck through Tuukka Rask. This goal was an individual play off the rush.

November 23rd, 2011: Mike Cammalleri and Eller break in on a 2-on-1 while shorthanded against the Hurricanes, but Cam Ward stops Cammalleri’s shot. Alexei Emelin keeps the puck in at the point and gets another shot on Ward that produces a rebound, but Eller can’t get a stick on it. Emelin drives deep and knocks the puck off of a Hurricane stick, which Eller recovers and sends up to the blueline for Raphael Diaz. Diaz shoots and Ward lets out yet another rebound, and this time Eller cashes. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

December 17th, 2011: Mathieu Darche drops the puck to Louis Leblanc, who gets off a quick shot that Martin Brodeur saves. Leblanc controls the rebound and takes it around the Devils net before feeding it to Hal Gill at the point. Gill waits and gives it back to Leblanc, who finds Eller in the slot for a quick slap shot through Brodeur. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

December 27th, 2011: On a Senators powerplay Diaz rips the puck around the boards to clear the zone. Erik Karlsson gets in the way but can’t control the puck, which leads to Eller jumping on it and starting a break. Karlsson dogs Eller the entire way down the ice but Eller controls the puck and wrists it top shelf past Craig Anderson. This goal was an individual effort off the rush.

January 4th, 2012: Kyle Wellwood turns the puck over to Eller just inside the Jets blueline. Eller takes the puck to the slot and blasts a wrist shot past Ondrej Pavelec. This goal was an individual effort on a zone play.

January 4th, 2012: Eller forces a turnover by Ron Hainsey that Kostitsyn jumps on. Kostitsyn then finds Moen streaking into the zone, who passes to Eller at the side of the net for an easy backdoor goal. This goal was a team effort on a zone play.

January 4th, 2012: Kostitsyn turn on beast mode, scratch that, Peter Forsberg mode, and skates from behind the Jets net around and through seemingly ever Jets defender before threading the needle with a pass against the flow of play to Eller at the side of the net for a one-timer goal and his first career hat trick. This goal was a team effort, well really it was a Kostitsyn effort, on a zone play. This is the kind of goal that always has people looking at Andrei Kostitsyn and asking, what if? Not many players in the NHL can do these kinds of things.

January 4th, 2012: Eller is awarded a penalty shot, and not satisfied with a simple hat trick, scores his fourth goal of the game on Chris Mason, who had relieved Pavelec, on a beautiful spinerama. This goal was an individual effort off the rush.

Tomorrow, we conclude our look at Lars Eller with his last 8 goals of the season.
