Play was cut short due to the international week in Europe, with the focus shifting to the Channel One Cup (formerly the much more interestingly named Izvestia Trophy) in Russia. The European World Junior Championship squads had initial camps, as well.
Joonas Nättinen, JYP
Jonas played two games and had a minus-one rating in those two games combined. He did not participate in the third game this week, so it seems he still suffering from the injury he was sidelined with a six weeks ago.
Lukas Vejdemo, Djurgården HC
Vejdemo had one assist after a good forecheck where he stole the puck and set up Robin Alvarez for an easy goal. The play shows how well he reads the game, and not panicking and throwing the puck on goal shows another aspect of his hockey IQ.

Vejdemo is in camp for the Swedish team for the World Junior Championship. There will be two forwards cut from the squad, but Vejdemo, for all his abilities to play on all forward positions, should not be one of them.
Magnus Nygren, Färjestad BK
Magnus Nygren only played six-and-a-half minutes in the only game he participated in. He was apparently rested because of overexertion, not any lingering concussion concerns. In those six minutes played, he was -1.
Nygren will miss out on the trip to Moscow for the Channel One Cup, in order to get rested for the restart of the SHL season on Boxing Day.
Artturi Lehkonen, Frölunda HC
Lehkonen fights all over the ice in any given situation. He has really turned into Coach Rönnberg’s “Swiss Army Knife” on the team. This week he had one game where he almost reached 20 minutes total TOI.
Martin Reway, Fribourg-Gottéron
Réway had a goal in a loss against HC Ambri-Piotta, opening the scoring after a dropped coverage. His teammate bounced the puck off the boards, and Réway was all alone on the other side to calmly flick the puck into the net from near the goal line. In ten games, Réway now has 13 points. Whether his cooled offence is because Fribourg has a few players out, or just a normal regression to the mean remains to be seen.
Réway will play in the Arosa Challenge International this weekend, facing the Belarusan team in a semi-final, with a match against Switzerland or Norway to follow, depending on the result of the first two games. Slovakia will have players from the KHL’s Slovan Bratislava on the roster,, but the Belarusians, who also have KHL players available for selection, as well, will pose a tough challenge.
Martin Réway will be part of the leadership group for Slovakia, being named an alternate captain for the tournament; the youngest Slovak ever to receive such an honour.
