With limited information from the Arosa Challenge (Slovakia international games) and the friendly games before the World Junior Championship, the table looks a bit bad this week; but I hope you can understand the reasons as the game sheets haven’t been official not contained all the usual stats.
Joonas Nättinen, JYP
Liiga has been on a break, and will be until Boxing Day.
Lukas Vejdemo, Djurgården IF
In a WJC pre-competition game against Denmark, Vejdemo got an assist on Adrian Kempe’s 3-0 goal (the other assist went to Axel Holmström) so it seems that Vejdemo was on a very good line at that time. In a game vs Slovakia, Vejdemo got another chance to play, with reports having him doing “okay,” but with no points, a few big hits, and a visit to the sin bin. I am not convinced he will make the final roster, which gets announced on the 25th, according to the SIHA website.
Magnus Nygren, Färjestad BK
Nygren is still resting to recover from his injury mentioned in last week’s report, and therefore missed out on the Channel One Cup, but is expected to return when the SHL starts back up on Boxing Day.
Artturi Lehkonen, Frölunda HC
Artturi opened up the scoring on a good pass from Spencer Abbott before finishing off with a nice hard shot past the goalkeeper; his 10th goal of the season.
For his assist later in the game, he won the puck battle along the boards during a power play and fed the puck up to the defender who passed it across to Bengtsson for a one-timer into the net. Artturi’s pace is amazing given the fact that he plays all situations and still creates most of his points 5-on-5. Martin Réway, Fribourg-Gottéron
Réway started the Arosa Challenge in Switzerland with a great move, setting up Čerešňák who scored from the right circle. That was the end for Réway’s production in the tournament, however, missing on a shootout attempt with a chance to tie one of the two games played.
In the only game for Réway in the Swiss NLA Réway was -1 versus Bern with two shots on goal.
