Dustin Tokarski called up by the Montreal Canadiens

Early this morning Carey Price left practice early, after taking just one shot. He seemed to be favouring his leg as he left the ice, and Michel Therrien has announced that it was a lower body injury, and that Price will not dress against the Red Wings.

Marc Bergevin has called up Dustin Tokarski to take his place on the bench, backing up Peter Budaj against the Red Wings and likely the Canadiens as well.

If this were a very short term injury, it’s likely that it would be Robert Mayer who would get the call, as he did the last couple times Price was hurt, leaving the Bulldogs’ starter to tend the nets down in Hamilton. That it’s Tokarski may signal that he will actually get a start or two.

Tokarski hasn’t had an NHL start since the 2011-12 season, where he played 5 games with Tampa Bay. Tokarski has a .919 save percentage with the struggling Bulldogs this season, to go along with a 17-13-2 record.
