David Schlemko expected to be out six weeks with knee injury

It hasn’t been an easy time for David Schlemko since he was traded to the Montreal Canadiens from the Vegas Golden Knights last summer.

After a solid showing in the preseason, something that many fans were hoping for after a disappointing season last year, Schlemko is now expected to be out six weeks with a knee injury.

In training camp last year he suffered a hand injury that took him out of the preseason entirely, and then had further surgery that forced him to miss several weeks of the regular season as well. He also missed a chunk of time with an upper body injury late in the season.

Now once again he finds himself on the sidelines after suffering an injury in a preseason contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs this past week.

His injury more or less locks in the Habs defensive unit for the time being, unless Simon Despres is signed to an NHL contract in the coming days.
