Lindgren was in Montreal looking to grab the backup role, but with his waiver-exempt status (which runs until the end of this season) and Antti Niemi playing well to begin his one-year contract extension, it was a fairly simple decision to assign Lindgren to the minors.
He will take the starting role for the Laval Rocket, with Michael McNiven serving as his backup this year. Lindgren should get his first game of action when the Rocket visit the Providence Bruins on October 6.
