Newly drafted Montreal Canadiens prospect Charles Hudon has been named one of 21 forwards invited to take place in Team Canada’s selection camp for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Hudon was named awhile ago by TSN hockey guru Bob McKenzie to be a top 6 forward with the club, so it looks like he has the inside track to make the team.
After an early season concussion scare Hudon is back to his regular self, tearing the QMJHL to shreds as late birthday 18 year old. Hudon actually turned 18 the day he was drafted, on June 23rd.
Hudon has scored 17 times and wracked up another 18 assists in just 25 games this season for 35 points.
The Canadian team has four potential returning forwards from last year’s bronze medal winners, including Jonathan Huberdeau, Mark Scheifele, Ryan Strome and Boone Jenner. On defense only Dougie Hamilton, #2 on Pension Plan Puppets‘ Top 25 Under 25, will be returning.
Bruins‘ prospect Malcolm Subban seems to be the frontrunner for the top goaltending job, hopefully ending the lack of goaltending dominance Canada has experienced since Price won the MVP award in 2007.
