In a game against the Binghamton Senators on March 31, St. John’s IceCaps forward Daniel Carr took a dirty hit to the head while in a vulnerable position from defenceman Charles-David Beaudoin.

As a result of the hit, Carr immediately left the game, and has missed the last two games as a result.
From an interview with IceCaps head coach Sylvain Lefebvre, it sounds like Carr won’t be back any time soon, which is a big loss to the team as they fight for a playoff spot. Carr was playing on the top line with Charles Hudon and Chris Terry at the time of the injury.
The American Hockey League took action and suspended Beaudoin for three games.

The 23-year-old Beaudoin was playing just his third AHL game after joining the team from the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers. He had no points in those three games. Prior to that he competed in the CIS after completing his junior career with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL.
As for Carr, he is having a season to forget. After failing to solidify a spot on the Canadiens roster he was bounced around for a few months between leagues, finally being sent down for good to the AHL in early February. He underwent surgery shortly thereafter which caused him to miss a month of action and then he took time off for personal reasons, missing more games. In all he’s played 16 games since early February, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
Hopefully Carr will be able to return for the playoffs should the IceCaps qualify, but headshots obviously don’t have timelines associated with their rehabilitation.
