The hit came in the first period of the game, and he was suspended both for the distance travelled and for the fact it was from behind.

The hit received a five-minute major and a game misconduct. He had a hearing with the league on Monday prior to the suspension being announced.
Paquette has played eight games for the Canadiens this season. He does not have a point and he is -1 on the year. In his absence, the Canadiens will likely have to recall a forward from the Laval Rocket. With Mathieu Perreault and Brendan Gallagher injured, the Canadiens only have 11 forwards eligible for Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.
After the suspension, Paquette will be eligible to return Saturday when the Canadiens host the Vegas Golden Knights.
