Catching the Torch: Martin Reway continues to shine

The Three Stars

1. Martin Reway

With the start of the 2014 playoffs in the QMJHL, Martin Reway is making a name for himself with only a pair of games played so far as his Gatineau Olympiques battle the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Reway would open up the first game scoring two goals and two assists as Gatineau began the series with a 7-2 win over Cape Breton. He would bring a significant impac to the scoresheet in the following game, marking three assists to aid Gatineau in defeating Cape Breton 8-2. Reway’s 7 points have him tied for the league lead in playoff scoring. Martin Reway was drafted in the 4th round, 116th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.

2. Magnus Nygren

With the playoffs underway in the Swedish Hockey League, Magnus Nygren continues to work on his scoring totals while manning the back end for Färjestad BK. After going without a point in the first game of the series, Nygren would pick it up scoring a goal in the 2nd game of the series to help lead Färjestad to a 4-2 win over Brynäs IF. His next game would see him get on the scoreboard as well, marking an assist in a 2-1 victory for Färjestad to help them to a 3-0 series lead over Brynäs. He would go without a point in his next game in a 2-0 loss to Brynäs.Magnus Nygren was drafted in the 4th round, 113th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 NHL Draft.

3. Greg Pateryn

The defensive scoring leader of the Hamilton Bulldogs Greg Pateryn continues to be a key contributor for the Hamilton Bulldogs this season as they struggle with scoring issues. After missing a game with a minor injury, Pateryn would get back in the lineup, scoring a goal and assist to help lead a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals. He would go without a point in the following game, a 5-1 loss to the Abbotsford Heat. Greg Pateryn was drafted in the 5th round, 128th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens as part of the trade that sent Mikhail Grabovski to Toronto.
