Carey Price will miss at least six weeks of action

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will be out a minimum of six weeks with a lower body injury, the team announced this morning.

The injury is believed to be to Price’s right knee. He left the game against the New York Rangers last Wednesday. It is believed he initially injured himself before the game against the Edmonton Oilers when slipping on a puck in warm up. He proceeded to play that entire game.

The team also announced that surgery would not be needed. The six week timeframe means that Price will likely miss the Winter Classic.

With a timeline in place, it will be interesting to see if the team gets Mike Condon some support. Dustin Tokarski is the current back up but hasn’t played a game – in the NHL or the AHL – since October 28.
