Carey Price Injury: Michel Therrien’s press conference

Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien meets with the media after every game day practice, but today he had some bad news to share with the absence of Carey Price from practice.

Price has suffered an undisclosed lower body injury, which Therrien explained as follows:

“During the Olympics Carey Price aggravated a lower body injury. So he won’t play the next two games, and he’s going to stay in Montreal even after we leave after the game. It’s day-to-day and we’ll see where he’s at for Friday’s practice, and obviously for Saturday night’s game.”

Noting that it was aggravating a prior injury, that likely means that it was the same injury he suffered last season that took him out of the playoffs and had him struggling down the stretch.

This upcoming stretch against the Red Wings, Penguins, Maple Leafs, Kings, Ducks, Coyotes, and Sharks was going to be difficult no matter what, but with Price possibly out over that time, this may make or break the season for Montreal.

More pressure will be on Peter Budaj than he’s ever faced, should Price be held out for longer than a week.
