Habs Breakfast on TSN 690 Montreal discussed the re-match of the Eastern Conference Finals from last year on Saturday with the New York Rangers coming to the Bell Centre. The Habs will look to get revenge on the Rangers and all eyes will especially be on Rangers’ forward Chris Kreider, who we all remember from last years Conference Finals for crashing into Carey Price and knocking him out of the playoffs with a lower body injury. In light of the recent tragedy in Ottawa, the Habs, Leafs, and the Senators will be partaking in a coordinated tribute before their respective games on Saturday night to honor the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the citizens of Canada’s Capitol on Wednesday. [NHL]
Dan Lacroix is now with the Montreal Canadiens as an assistant coach after serving under Alain Vigneault’s New York Ranger team who defeated the Habs just last Spring in the Eastern Conference Finals. Lacroix was formerly an assistant coach with the Hamilton Bulldogs and so had an affiliation with the Habs and most likely wanted to come back. Vigneault, however, didn’t want to see him go. The Boston Bruins have not gotten off to the greatest of starts, the exact opposite, in fact, of what every NHL analyst predicted for them. Not many were panicking, however, just chalking it up to early season adjustments due to the fact they traded steady defenseman Johnny Boychuk. Now, though, what will the Bruins do without Boychuk and without their captain and all-star defensive behemoth Zdeno Chara? [Puck Daddy]
The woes just keep on coming for the Philadelphia Flyers. Already considered to have one of the NHL’s worst defenses, the Flyers have more bad news in that department as Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald will both be sidelined for at least a month. [Philly.com]

For New York after 9/11 watching the Yankees magical run to the World Series will never be forgotten, for Boston last year after the Marathon bombings, the Bruins and Red Sox gave the city what they needed night in and night out (I know I was living in Boston at the time and lived just 10 blocks from ground zero), and now for Ottawa, hockey and their Senators will become something much more starting on Saturday night.
