Canadiens vs. Senators: Game thread, rosters, lines, and how to watch

The Montreal Canadiens just collected their first win of the pre-season: a 3-1 home victory against the Florida Panthers. In what started as a game with an exhibition feel, the Habs were forced to fight hard through a scrappy third period to secure the win.

The Ottawa Senators will take the ice having lost their last two games, but still boasting a record superior to Montreal’s. Ottawa is 3-2 in their five games thus far, and have scored 20 goals, while allowing only 18. The Habs, by contrast, have found the back of the net only 12 times, while allowing 26 goals, with two more games played than the Sens.

This is the final chance for Claude Julien and the Canadiens’ staff to evaluate their team in game action before the regular season.

Peter Holland, despite a few solid shifts and a fight standing up for his teammate, has been placed on waivers by the Canadiens, and if he clears, should report to camp with the Laval Rocket. The situation is the same for Daniel Carr who was also placed on waivers with the hope of him clearing to report to the AHL. Both will be eligible to play in the Rocket’s pre-season game on Sunday shoul they not be claimed buy another NHL team.
