Canadiens vs. Sabres third period thread

Max Pacioretty found Dale Weise with a perfect cross-ice pass as the Habs moved the puck on the powerplay to free up Weise on the far post completely alone. Weise potted it for his 12th of the season.

The Habs took a penalty soon after the goal, but killed the penalty and picked up where they left off. In the first ten minutes of the second period, the Habs only allowed aadsfsdfa shot attempts, maintaining the majority of possession by a wide margin.

But it was still only 1-1. The Sabres almost regained the lead on a mistake at the blue-line off a faceoff by Alexei Emelin, who tried to make a fancy pass but ended up giving up a breakaway to Evander Kane. Mike Condon made a nice blocker save to keep it level, his 14th of the game at that point.

The save proved to be critical, as moments later Alex Galchenyuk combined skill, drive and power to bury a backhand shot as he charged to the net after stealing the puck off a lost offensive zone faceoff.

The Habs hold a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, and actually look poised to snap their three-game losing streak.
