The Canadiens have been in some tight contests so far in the pre-season, and the first period versus the Ottawa Senators on Saturday fit that description, but they’ve always found a way — usually through their young prospects — to come away with the win so far.

Tonight’s game shouldn’t be nearly so close as the Maple Leafs bring a roster barely reaching the minimum veteran limit. The players will still be doing their best trying to earn spots throughout the organization.

There will be some Habs players matching the intensity of a few Leafs buoyed by the competition on the other side. Montreal will once again have Alex Belzile and Jake Evans at forward, while both Cale Fleury and Josh Brook will be patrolling the right side.

There are plenty of players in the Canadiens lineup who will start the year in the NHL, and they should be expected to come away with the lopsided score the Toronto squad chosen for the trip to the Bell Centre deserves.
