After dropping a lackluster game 1, the Montreal Canadiens needed a big win over the Vegas Golden Knights to take the series back to Montreal with a split. They managed a very good opening frame on Monday night, so the hope was that they’d be able to channel that into a full 60 in game 2.
They may not have gotten a proper full-60, but they did get the win, and that’s all that matters. Welcome to your Bottom Six Minutes for a huge game 2 for the Habs.
They were able to generate some legitimate offense out of their stellar first period, similar to that they played in game one, but this time with some goals. I’ll touch on the forward lines that are driving offense for the team as they surprise everyone in these playoffs.
Jeff Petry made a surprise appearance with some shockingly red eyes, but looked no worse for wear. The defense also got some solid minutes from Joel Edmundson and Shea Weber on the back end.
Carey Price played well, but he didn’t need to be other-worldly. Now the Canadiens will get an opportunity to take control of the series on home ice. If they can do that, they could earn themselves a chance to make the Stanley Cup final, something we haven’t seen since 1993.
All we have to do is believe.
