Canadiens vs. Canucks third period thread

The Habs did nothing with their 2nd-period-opening powerplay, generating 1 shot from 20 feet out and not spending any elongated time in the Canucks‘ zone. The Habs’ fourth line came out to create some energy, pumping up the Canadiens shots on goal number, and putting the Habs on the right footing to start building a comeback attempt. At this point in the 2nd period the Habs were up 6-1 on shot attempts.

The Canucks managed to reverse the pressure for a few minutes, but the Habs forced them back on their heels again, with Max Pacioretty forcing a shot through Ryan Miller, but the puck was retrieved in the blue paint by the Canucks defense before it could cross the line. Alex Semin got a major cross check to the abdomen and laboured off the ice in visible pain, but he did not leave the game. Brandon Prust got a taste of even worse pain after catching his skate in a rut, and rolling his ankle in a contest for the puck along the boards with Brian Flynn.

At the very least, the Canadiens were able to keep the Canucks off the board in the 2nd period, and were starting to mount some threatening offensive events. Overall, the Habs look like they’re missing something tonight, and Michel Therrien has started to tinker with his lineup for the first time this season as a result.
